To welcome the future, one must first possess themselves."
Created in February 2026, Pride (誇り — Hokori) is a celebration of the year’s earliest optimism. Set against the delicate backdrop of blooming plum flowers—the traditional heralds of spring—and buoyant yellow balloons, the piece radiates a sense of new beginnings and rising energy.
However, the heart of the work lies in its central figure: a pigeon whose gaze is fixed downward. This isn't the humble bird of the pavement; it is a creature of immense dignity. Its expression, bordering on arrogance, reclaims the concept of "Pride" as a form of self-assurance. It looks down not in disdain, but from the height of its own conviction.
This work captures the specific spirit of 2026—a year of looking forward with a stoic, unshakeable belief in one’s own path.
The Technical Mastery To capture the subtle gradients of the yellow balloons and the velvety petals of the plum blossoms, this print is produced on 250g Japanese Washi. The heavy, textured fibers of the washi grounds the airy subject matter, giving the "optimism" a physical weight. Printed via the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1100, the pigment density ensures that the pigeon's nuanced expression remains sharp and commanding.
